During my journey of #100daysoflearning on LinkedIn I realized my passion for sharing random knowledge with others. All throughout the challenge I loved the engagement and inspiration that it ignited. After the end of that challenge, I wanted to continue sharing but I also wanted there to be somewhat of a a purpose. Coincidently around the same time I ran across one of those leadership training exercises.
📝How to effectively articulate your purpose
Usually I do not like these types of exercises but I was intrigued. It was a series of video clips, articles, questions. One of which...
❔What passions do you have that have followed you throughout your life?
Not a surprise, I have a huge fascination with continuous learning. Any type of learning, any topic, any platform, any day of the week. I have a wondrous mind, I ask TONS of questions, and I am crazy curious 🐱
I have always had a passion for teaching others, whether that be through my silly Fun Facts or more educational means. I actually wanted to be a teacher growing up but for some reason decided against it and went into accounting. I guess I figured it would be a safer route at the time, but I still have that urge and passion to teach others.
This realization convinced me that it is the right thing to do so I continued sharing, but beyond data science. I enjoy sneaking in personal passions such as fitness, food, health, and games. I think it is the best when you can really relate to others on a more personal level.
I also wanted to define a brand that people could follow. I noticed lots of people have these personal hashtags on LinkedIn and I thought that was a really neat idea. I came up with (what I think is) a catchy hashtag, which I think perfectly captures my purpose.
Questions that came to mind which helped come up with the hashtag:
Have you ever heard a word you did not know and you accidently spend an hour learning its definition, origin, related memes, etc.?
Have you ever analyzed your fitbit data in detail and try to predict the duration and level of activity needed to burn off your lunch?
Have you ever purposely eaten fish before an exam because you know that omega-3s are an excellent food for quality brain functioning?
This weird term which I think captures the random knowledge in topic areas of interest (#datascience, #fitness, #health, #technology, #innovation)
Breakdown
🍗Nourishment: the food or other substances necessary for growth, health, and good condition
Nerd: 🤓
Definition
#nerdnourishment are the thoughts that enter your brain that are used as fuel that gives you the tenacity to seek and obtain the random knowledge that ultimately helps you become the winner of bar trivia 🏆
Fun Fact
The hashtag symbol is technically called an octothorpe #️⃣
I am excited for this new chapter, as you can see #nerdnourishment now has a domain currently used primarily as a Blog. This started as a place to share all prior LinkedIn posts (as LinkedIn does not have a very good feature to search for prior posts). I will continue to share blog posts and in the future plan on having other services as well such as video tutorials, a shop where you can buy productivity gadgets, and maybe even a podcast. These are future plans that I am sharing for accountability purposes.
Follow if you like and please feel free to use this # for nerd related learning topics
And.. as always
Happy Learning!!
